April 2023 — Update from the Chair

In April we signed a contract with Nevada County Digital Media, 355 Crown Point Circle, Suite D, Grass Valley, to hold a live First Tuesday Educational Forum for the first time since the pandemic began. Together with our just-restored Nevada County Dems Central Committee meetings held at Briar Patch on the third Thursday every month, we are once more firing on all cylinders with traditions restored fully from when the pandemic started.

Speaking of face-to-face once again, we sold 110 tickets to our just-concluded Spring Picnic at Condon Park this year. Local elected persons and DEM faithful came together to enjoy good weather and good company at this popular annual picnic. The Northern Organizing Manager for the California Democratic Party, Sue Hilderbrand, came to town to update the assembled people a rundown of new State Party plans for rural Northern California Counties that all have so much in common. In particular, she is seriously addressing the two Congressional races, District 1 and ours, District 3, with ambitious plans to win in 2024. Nevada County Supervisor Heidi Hall addressed the picnic along with other notables.

A special thanks to all Finance and Fundraising Committee volunteers for doing such a great job organizing this year’s Spring Picnic event. We look forward to renewed energy this season to promote and "defend Democracy, our Freedoms, and the Planet”.
