December 2024 Chair Report

This month 223 of our volunteers were invited to Seaman’s Lodge for a volunteer appreciation potluck. Seventy people were able to attend. I told attendees that the event felt celebratory. It reminded me of a class reunion even though we had been “schooled” -- given the election outcome.

It is often true that the strongest bonds are formed in adversity. This was clear to me in the high spirits, warmth, and genuine affection for each other that was evident to all potluck participants. To me, this is a win and all the reason in the world to continue.

In point of fact however, it is even better: locally, our Nevada County Team Blue won about 55% of the vote for all Federal contests. This includes Presidential, Senatorial, and Congressional races. No other contiguous county was able to achieve this. Maybe that is why we live here?

Going forward, our year-round headquarters will be open again on Friday afternoons starting in February. After all, our CADEM motto is, “forever organizing.” And now we have our reputation to protect! So, in truth there is much to celebrate, namely, all of us who showed up to defend our Freedoms, our Democracy, and our Planet.
