Don't miss this chance to meet with other concerned local folks ready to roll up our sleeves and fight back against the destruction of our democracy!

The 24 hour Economic Blackout

As our first initial act, we turn off our consumer spending. For one day we show the oligarchs who really holds the power.

WHEN:
February 28th from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM

WHAT NOT TO DO:

  • Do not make any purchases

  • Do not shop online, or in-store

  • No Amazon, No Walmart, No Best Buy — Nowhere!

  • Do not spend money on: Fast Food, Gas, Major Retailers

  • Do not use Credit or Debit Cards for non essential spending

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

  • Only buy absolutely necessary essentials — Food, Medicine, Emergency Supplies

  • If you must spend, ONLY support small local businesses

SPREAD THE MESSAGE
Talk about it, post about it, and document your actions that day!

WHY THIS MATTERS!

  • Corporations and banks only care about their bottom line.

  • If we disrupt the economy for just ONE day, it sends a powerful message.

  • If they don't listen (they won’t) we make the next blackout longer (we will)

This is our first action. This is how we make history. February 28th — The 24 Hour Economic Black Out Begins.

2025 ADEM Nevada County Candidates — Learn More About Assembly District 1 Candidates

Pat Aramendia
I have been a democratic activist for a long time and support the goals of the Democratic Party.

Al Aramendia
My main goal in becoming an ADEM delegate to the California Democratic Party's annual conventions the next two years is to help the Democratic Party grow its constituency especially in the Latino communities and the youth voter under 30 years of age. I will be an active partner working with the other delegates to strengthen the goals of the Democratic Party.

Christina Cox
I have school age children in the Grass Valley School District and am very invested in the community. I am interested in being an active member of our democracy.

Bob Branstrom
The concerns I want to take to the state-level Democratic Party are more awareness of rural areas and how we differ from urban areas, and how people here are hurting economically with higher prices for food, gas, housing, utilities, and insurance.

Daniela Fernandez
The Democratic Party must connect with voters by focusing on solutions that improve lives in tangible ways. I'm running to ensure rural voices are heard and to help shape a platform that balances innovation with practicality, vision with action.

Bob Gould
I am committed to resist Trump and Project 2025 with brilliance, courage, creativity and tenacity; and form mutually strengthening coalitions with all like-minded activists and organizations.

Jeffrey Gottesman
As a lifelong progressive Democrat, incumbent ADEM delegate, and activist who fears our party has been corrupted by big corporate and wealthy donors, many of whom are Republicans, resulting in the MAGA predation of our traditional working class and minority base, I’ll prioritize banishing PAC money from our primary elections. I’ll fight to platform a redirection of military spending to human and environmental safety needs for our communities, like health care, fire insurance reform and education.

Steve Hurley
I have served as the Nevada County Democrats Central Committee Chair for the last year and was just elected as chair for another year. As such, I'm familiar with the California Democratic Party's convention and other procedures and I'm dedicated to working at the county, district, and state level to keep and add more Democrats to the list of elected officials at all levels.

The Nevada County Democrats Central Committee (DCC) meets both in person and online on the third Thursday of each month at 6 pm.

As a volunteer, I enjoy communicating with other Democrats within our county. I also thrive on getting involved in promoting our candidates and our party, instead of watching from the sidelines. I enjoy being able to find common purpose with others which usually leads to compelling conversations.
